    What Can You Do ?

La Torre del Chianti is in the heart of Tuscany, between two large cities of art, Florence and Siena, in the territory of the Chianti Classico well known for its winevineyards, olive-trees,  castles, churches and little medieval hilltop villages.

No matter what time of the year you will choose, you will always find interesting and surprising things to do. Every season is ideal for a stay or for a visit, to admire an extraordinary landscape and to discover the richness of the wines and the flavours the Chianti land has to offer.

Events and Activities:

May – June are the best months to enjoy fresh new fruit and blossoming trees.

July and August retain the fascination of “Palio” time in Siena, a horse race that is so important for the entire town and villages around. Time for feasts and markets in small villages.

Summer is also the time for art exhibitions organized in beautiful spots or music events at night in pievi or castles.

September and October are grape harvest time with plenty of wine festivals.

November is time for olive oil production, the right moment to taste the new oil.

Winter is the perfect time to enjoy real Italian life.

What can you do in La Volpaia and around ?

- Walking Tours

- Art Tours

Here is an example of what you could do and see

Driving through the Strada Chiantigiana which runs through the heart of the Chianti region and is most scenic route leading you  to Greve in Chianti where you may can relax in the main square to enjoy a wine tasting at one of the many Enoteca's found in the arcades that surround the main piazza. Your second priority will be to find “Antica Macelleria Falorni”, the famous butcher shop: feast your eyes and other senses on the fabulous display of hanging meats and cheeses.  Explore this friendly market town with the opportunity to do more wine tasting at a local vineyard or olive oil tasting.

Visit the hill town of Impruneta to see the Terracotta furnaces and local pottery that has been made here since the 11th Century.  Impruneta is famous for its terra cotta including the tiles on Brunelleschi’s dome in Firenze. Every October, the town hosts an annual terra cotta sale. This festival is known as “St. Luke’s Horse & Mule Fair” (who would have guessed they were selling pottery).

Enjoy a walk around the enchanting hill town of San Gimignano to admire its medieval hamlet and learn about the feuding noble families that built them. You'll be able appreciate the slower pace of life that hasn't changed for centuries as you stroll around the streets of this enchanting hill town.
